I am clothes-packed : writing clothes, reading clothes, talking clothes, teaching clothes, walking clothes, swimming clothes (and five pairs of shoes, obv).
I am work-packed : 2 film scripts, 1 playscript, two files with the “maybe new book ideas” in them, 1 folder of teaching stuff, laptop, white board paper to stick up on wall in room and white board markers to go with it, notebook, pens, pencils, pencil sharpener. (I’m slightly in love with pencils at the moment.)
I am reading-packed : Tom Holland’s In The Shadow of the Sword and Sarah Quigley’s The Conductor even though I’m going to LIVE IN a library. Well, you never know.
I am other stuff packed : final series of The Wire; camera; that sketch book I’ve never used properly; a yoga dvd, a pilates dvd and my yoga mat; omamori gohonzon, gongyo book & beads.
I am journey-packed : a bunch of cds for driving, water, sweets, gum.

I did loads of gardening today so Shelley (hopefully) doesn’t need to worry about it while I’m away, the white board in my office is clear except for the list of on-going projects, my to-do list is done, I’m outta here.

I will be here until the end of May. When I applied for the residency I applied saying I didn’t know what I’d be working on while there. Now I know (see the pile above!), but I also know that other things will come up while I’m there. The unusual time to only work, to only work on writing work (no theatre making, though some theatre writing & some script helping) … that’s going to give me something. I just don’t know what it is yet.
I’m very much looking forward to finding out.
